Bukit Cinta was coined by Habib Ismail

According to Damianus Siyok, a resident of Palangka Raya whose farmland is in that area, the term "Bukit Cinta" was coined by Habib Ismail to name the land he purchased. The hill was originally known as Bukit Tangkiling. 

"The farming area belonged to the Pahandoet and Bukit Rawi people in the past. The people who farmed there in the 1980s and 1990s were from Sei Gohong, our crossing place," according to Siyok's account.

The name given by Habib Ismail was initially protested against because it would erase the original name, which has sacred meaning and is in accordance with the 2022 Law on the Naming of Landforms.
