BORNEOTRAVEL - SINTANG: If you ever find yourself traveling or on a business trip to Sintang, make sure to carve out some time to visit Keling Kumang Agrowisata, nestled at the base of the unique monolith known as Bukit Kelam.
Discover Keling Kumang Agrowisata (Agro tourism)
Keling Kumang Agrowisata is open today from 9 AM to 6 PM WIB.
This is an invitation straight from a Facebook post, and it’s clear: Borneo, especially Sintang and its surrounding areas, boasts a landscape and natural beauty that hold immense potential for tourism.
The future looks bright, particularly in the fields of agro and ecotourism, as long as these opportunities are managed through a creative economy infused with local culture.
The Credit Union Keling Kumang (GCUKK) has taken on the responsibility of managing this venture. Just take a moment to reach out and touch the unique contours of this hill.
In Kalimantan, this is undoubtedly one of the few monoliths (monos lithos) standing tall—a singular mountain formed from a meteor that crashed to Earth millions of years ago.
The allure of Bukit Kelam
And that’s the captivating charm of Bukit Kelam in Sintang, a premier ecotourism destination. People from Pontianak, Sanggau, Landak, and Sekadau, as well as visitors from further afield, flock to this location. It’s even a popular site for spiritual journeys, as at the foot of this monolithic mountain, there are spiritual tourism opportunities available.
GCUKK has established a sprawling agrotourism area here. Derived from "ager," meaning agriculture and land, combined with "wisata," which translates to tourism, Keling Kumang has developed a foundation for education, along with a vocational school and an Institute of Technology. On this 4-hectare plot at the base of Bukit Kelam, they are building a plantation tourism area.
Make your way there! You’ll experience a unique sensation—breathtaking views that are quintessentially Kalimantan. You’ll be close to local culinary delights, and perhaps most enticing of all, this area is also home to the longhouses of the Ibanic Dayak tribe, one of the increasingly rare "panyai" (betang) houses in Kalimantan, known as the Ensaid longhouse.
Come and witness the natural beauty of this land, a small piece of earth that feels like it fell straight from the Garden of Eden!
